Do I need a special TV to use the OnLive Game System ? I don't have an HDTV- can I use my CRT or Projection TV? Does the OnLive Game System support 480p or 480i format?
You will have the best experience using a High-Definition TV (HDTV) with video format of 1080p, 720p or 1080i and HDMITM Input, however, if your HDTV does not have an HDMI connection, you can use an HDTV with Component Video, if it meets the required specification. My HDTV has DVI input. Will that work?
If your HDTV does not have HDMI but does have a DVI input, you can purchase an HDMI-to-DVI adapter (available at most consumer electronics stores). A separate audio connection is needed in this case, either Component or Digital Optical. Learn more: Accessories.
Check your HDTV specification carefully. Your HDTV must meet these requirements:
- Type: HDTV
- Video Signal: Component Video Input, 3x RCA connectors (YPbPr)
- Resolution: 720p or 1080i
- Aspect ratio: 16:9
With HDMI, audio and video are carried via a single cable, however, if you use the Component Video cable, you will need to use a separate cable for audio. You have two audio connection options:
- RCA Stereo Audio - included in the Component Cable accessory
- Digital Optical (TOSLINK) - available at most consumer electronics stores
Choose the audio connection that best suits your configuration.
My CRT TV has 480p or 480i resolution. Will that work?
The MicroConsole does not support 480p or 480i resolution at this time. The minimum requirement is 720p or 1080i for an HDTV with component video input.
